Is this course for me?

Yes! Mastering En-ROADS is designed to support leaders from a variety of backgrounds.

Beginners will find ample explanations and practice exercises to solidify their understanding. We do not assume prior knowledge of climate science or familiarity with the En-ROADS simulator.

Experienced facilitators will deepen their knowledge of model dynamics and be able to hone their facilitation skills. This course includes a variety of new components, updated explanations, and a multitude of interactive activities.

What is En-ROADS?

En-ROADS is a transparent, freely-available policy simulation model that gives everyone the chance to design their own scenarios to limit future global warming.  You can try your own experiments and assumptions, and get immediate feedback on the likely impacts. The simulation, developed by Climate Interactive, Ventana Systems, and MIT Sloan, runs on an ordinary laptop in a fraction of a second, is available online, offers an intuitive interface, has been carefully grounded in the best available science, and has been calibrated against a wide range of existing integrated assessment, climate and energy models.

Is there a fee for the course?

No, the training course, the En-ROADS simulator, and all the Climate Interactive tools and resources are free to all, thanks to the generous support of our funders. If you would like to contribute, you may donate here:

Can my friend/sister/cousin/students join the course?

Yes! Anyone is welcome to join.

When does the course start? Is there a deadline to finish it?

We have designed the Mastering En-ROADS course to be entirely self-paced. You can sign up and start anytime, and there is no deadline for finishing the course. We recommend completing one module per week.

How much time should I plan to spend on the course each week?

It's up to you! A good estimate would be 2-4 hours per module. We recommend planning to spend at least an hour to watch the videos and an additional hour to complete the quizzes and activities in the module.
